Clear answers about LearnForgeAI as an education innovation lab — what we build, who we partner with, and how synthetic AI and immersive learning fit responsibly into Canadian classrooms.

Lab FAQ session at LearnForgeAI innovation lab

Is LearnForgeAI a generic online course provider or marketing agency?

No. LearnForgeAI is a future AI education innovation lab developing synthetic learning environments, immersive experiences and virtual education assistants. We are not a marketing agency, web studio, SaaS vendor without an education mission, or generic course marketplace trading credentials for clicks. Our work is rooted in hands-on prototyping, educator collaboration and ethical AI review inside our New Westminster lab — not in selling passive content or corporate consulting retainers.

Do LearnForgeAI simulations replace qualified teachers?

No. Our lab prototypes are designed to support and enrich the work of qualified educators — never to replace professional teaching judgment, classroom leadership or human connection. Virtual education assistants operate under educator override protocols. Knowledge simulations are facilitated by teachers who interpret results and guide learner reflection. We believe AI in education must augment human expertise, not substitute for it.

What is a lab residency?

A lab residency is an extended engagement — typically four to sixteen weeks — where your team embeds inside the LearnForgeAI innovation sandbox to co-develop education prototypes with our researchers. Residents receive dedicated lab bench access, weekly mentorship, prototype toolchain privileges, ethical AI review and a culminating showcase presentation. Residencies are our deepest form of partnership, ideal for districts and faculties pursuing flagship innovations such as district-wide simulation platforms or immersive career pathway prototypes.

How do pilot partnerships work?

School pilot partnerships deploy a scoped LearnForgeAI prototype inside your institution under educator supervision. We co-define success metrics, learner safety protocols and data governance before any classroom interaction. Pilots include educator workshops, student focus groups, technical support during the pilot period and a comprehensive evaluation report. Pilots are intentionally limited in scope and duration — they are proof-of-concept engagements, not full production deployments.

Who is eligible to partner with the lab?

Public and independent K-12 schools, school districts, post-secondary faculties, continuing education departments and registered education nonprofits across Canada are eligible for pilot partnerships, programme enrolment and residency applications. We evaluate readiness based on educator commitment, institutional support for experimentation and alignment with our ethical AI principles. International inquiries are considered on a case-by-case basis; our primary focus is Canadian education innovation.

How does PIPEDA apply to lab engagements?

LearnForgeAI handles all personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable British Columbia privacy legislation. Partner schools receive data processing agreements before any learner data is collected during pilots. We practice data minimization, purpose limitation and secure storage on Canadian and North American infrastructure. For full details, see our Privacy Policy or contact [email protected].

What is the scope of a prototype sprint?

An immersive prototype sprint is a compressed one-to-two-week engagement focused on a single learning challenge. Your team arrives with a defined problem; we facilitate rapid design, build and test cycles inside the lab. Sprints produce a working prototype, educator facilitation guide and adoption recommendation. They are ideal for institutions needing proof-of-concept before committing to a residency or full programme. Sprint scope is tightly bounded — we deliver one prototype, not a product roadmap.

What immersion technology does the lab use?

We work with spatial learning technology, multimodal interfaces, digital twin classroom environments and simulation-based assessment frameworks. Hardware compatibility varies by prototype — we conduct accessibility and infrastructure audits during discovery before recommending immersion approaches. All immersion prototypes include educator facilitation guides and learner safety protocols. Technology choices are always subservient to pedagogical goals, never the reverse.

How does curriculum co-design work?

Curriculum co-design studio sessions bring faculty teams into our lab to integrate AI-powered tools into existing programme architecture while preserving educator authorship. We audit learning outcomes, identify augmentation points, build co-designed unit plans and validate alignment with provincial standards. Unlike off-the-shelf curriculum products, co-design outputs belong to the partner institution with full documentation of AI tool configurations and responsible-use guidelines.

What do residency fees cover?

Residency fees cover lab bench access, researcher mentorship, prototype toolchain usage, ethical AI review, documentation and showcase presentation. Fees do not include partner institution staff time, hardware procurement for partner sites or post-residency production deployment. Custom residencies are quoted based on duration, team size and prototype complexity. Programme fees for structured lab programmes (LFG-101 through LFG-601) are listed on our Programs page.

Education disclaimer: LearnForgeAI develops synthetic and immersive AI learning experiences through our education innovation lab. Prototypes and pilot programmes are illustrative; we do not guarantee third-party accreditation, job placement or universal adoption results. Virtual assistants and simulations support — not replace — qualified educators. We are not a SaaS vendor without an education mission, corporate AI consulting agency or generic online course catalogue.
